Course Description: The session is designed for educators from all content areas. In this workshop, I will share strategies on how to build culturally responsive relationships with your students. You will learn how to use art to honor your student’s life experiences and culture. Participants will also hear how I have used current events, contemporary artists, and activists to build relationships during COVID 19.

3. Sort culturally responsive topics to build on your art curriculum

Facilitator: Natovian McLeod

Bio: Natovian McLeod graduated from MICA in 2015 with her BFA in General Fine Arts and her Master of Art in Teaching in 2016. Currently, Natovian is the program coordinator for MICA’s Art and Design College Accelerator Program (ADCAP) for Baltimore City students. She will be entering her fifth year as an Elementary art teacher in Baltimore County Public Schools.

  • The Creative Process Map - BIG IDEAS: Guide participants through a creative response to a relevant and exciting concept.

  • Artist Communities - VOICE & AGENCY: Integrate authentic opportunities for participants to share their perspectives and experiences, make choices, and provide and receive peer feedback.
