The building blocks of a positive school-community and student voice using cultural relevance
Course Description: The session is designed for educators from all content areas. This session will provide an introduction into the Culturally Responsive Pedagogy framework. Explore how art uses Culturally Responsive Teaching practices to encourage student voice, relationships, and promote a positive school-community and beyond. Participants will gain a better understanding of the basic concept of Culturally Responsive Pedagogy, learn to support student advocacy and a school-community, and how to facilitate a culturally competent classroom.
Facilitator: Camille Gibson
Bio: Camille Gibson is currently an Art Teacher at Golden Ring Middle School. She also serves as Department Chair and Art Lead Teacher for East Zone. She also holds a master’s degree in Leadership Teaching in Cultural Proficiency from Notre Dame of Maryland University and Post Masters Certificate in Administration and Supervision at Notre Dame of Maryland University.
