Course Description: Participants explore and develop personal creative habits followed by arts discipline-specific instruction, led by master artists, taught in studio environments to awaken the artist in each participant while providing a deep investigation of the latest artistic techniques.

Facilitator: Carien Quiroga

Bio: Carien Quiroga, an award-winning multimedia visual artist and educator, uses her artmaking and teaching practices to engage with creative both communities locally and internationally. Social Justice, mindfulness, and collaboration is at the core of her artistic work. Her teaching includes intergenerational art programs, professional development for educators, mural-making residencies, and workshops with incarcerated youth and adults, including those with mental illness. She holds a BA in Criminology and Psychology from the University of Pretoria, BA in Fine Art from the University of South Africa, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Visual Art focusing on Artmaking practices in Correctional Facilities. www.carienquiroga.com
