Facilitator: Gayle Danley
Bio: Gayle Danley is one of the nation’s most sought after inspirational writers and speakers. Her work focuses on slam poetry as a tool of instruction, as a vehicle for expressing life’s joy and anguish, and a life raft to young people regardless of age, gender or level of ability. Gayle uses her national platform to say “let’s stop pretending we aren’t hurting. Let’s truly reach out to one another and walk life’s difficult, wonderful path, step by step, together.” She has been featured on CBS 60 Minutes, in the Washington Post, the New York Times and the Baltimore Sun. Gayle’s Slam Sessions teach the art of slam poetry accessibly and with loads of fun! Gayle is a former Young Audiences of Maryland Artist of the Year and a National Young Audiences Artist of the Year. For over 20 years, teachers throughout the country have shared her with their students to inspire them beyond the English/Language Arts curriculum and to give them a safe place to fully express themselves.
