St. Mary’s County Public Schools, All-County Chorus

Thank you to Phoebe Kammerer and Todd Burroughs for inviting me to conduct the All-County Middle School Chorus. The students and their music educators worked very hard to prepare the repertoire selections. A true highlight was hearing some of the students share their personal memories of tranquility by the water’s edge. Those stories helped the ensemble unite and sing beautiful musical phrases to match the ebb and flow of water and waves.

Please enjoy their performance of Bring Me Little Water, Silvy, a Leadbelly song arranged for choral ensemble.

Additionally, MS and HS All-County Band, Chorus, and Orchestra recordings are ready for sharing on the SMCPS Fine Arts website: https://sites.google.com/smcps.org/smcps-fine-arts/home

Prince George’s County Public Schools, PGATI

Thank you Marlo Castillo and the PGCPS Creative Arts team for the invitation to open the

annual PGATI event with a song and message about the power of creativity.  Arts integration teachers from all across the county gathered for the weeklong, virtual professional learning institute. The opening ceremony set an inspirational tone and positive energy for the participants.

Maryland Music Educators Association, July Virtual  Conference

Twelve state Music Education Associations (MEAs)* across the United States partnered with Maryland MEA to host the 2021 Virtual Conference on July 13-15, 2021. Following an uber successful winter conference, MMEA focused on the guiding inquiry, “How do we welcome all students and teachers as we seek to improve equitable access and representation in music education?” The theme MAKING EQUITY ACTIONABLE presented strategies for opening doors to all students while evaluating the curricula we teach to ensure cultural relevance.

Hal Leonard, Looking Forward to 2021-2022
Thank you to HL for the opportunity to present about advocacy and community exchange. The conference included presentations by Eric Whitacre, Rollo Dilworth, and other music luminaries.
