Artist Statement: There were a lot of things that inspired me for my sticker. First my wonderful teacher Mrs. Henderson showed the class some pictures of the state flower the Black Eyed Susan, the state bird an Oriole, and a Maryland blue crab, so I wanted to use all of those pictures and have the nice Maryland flag in the background. I came up with the horse on my sticker because I’ve been to lots of horse races with my grandparents and family, and I knew that Baltimore had one of the three Triple Crown races. And Cigar is a very famous race horse born in Maryland, so I used it in my drawing.

Artist Statement: I wanted to create a design that included the traditional elements of voting, such as the ballots and polls. The Maryland flag design in the center is an abstract shape with a red, white and blue outline to represent the colors of the American flag.

Artist Statement: I used the Bay Bridge, a pretty iconic symbol for Maryland to show how it connects the two sides of the state. I incorporated both the Maryland and United States flag to show how we vote in Maryland directly influences what is happening in the Nation as well. It was also important for me to include a blue heron to represent the importance of nature, natural wildlife and its preservation within the state.
