Masterclass Series

Maryland Masterclass Series debuts with a two-day professional learning workshop for Maryland music educators alongside community musicians ed by Grammy Award winner, Donald Lawrence. The 160-member workshop choir was comprised of participants from 12 local school systems.
Maryland Micro-Credentials for Creative Classrooms
Summer 2019 Studios
Launch of Maryland Micro-Credentials for Creative Classrooms, a professional learning institute for arts educators and teaching artists in partnership with the Maryland State Arts Council.
#Mcreds are a suite of competency-based professional learning courses for facilitators of creative classrooms. Participants are able to personalize their professional learning by selecting topics based on their own professional needs, successfully completing the course, and submitting evidence of mastery to receive the Micro-credential endorsement.
Maryland Arts Educator Studio
Arts Disciplines Available: Music/Vocal, Music/Instrumental, Theatre, Dance, and Visual Arts
Maryland Arts Educator Studio is a week-long, professional development program for arts educators. Participants explore and develop personal creative habits followed by arts discipline specific instruction, led by master artists, taught in studio environments to awaken the artist in each participant while providing a deep investigation of the latest artistic techniques. Afternoon sessions offer additional studio time, collaborative working sessions, unit planning with a focus on pedagogy, inquiry-based learning practices, arts assessments and community engagement.

Maryland Arts Integration Studio
Participants choose one arts discipline focus: Music, Theatre or Visual Arts.
When classroom teachers integrate the arts they can expect improvements in academic and social-emotional outcomes such as creativity, critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration skills. During this two-day workshop participants will explore and develop personal creative habits followed by arts-discipline specific instruction, led by master teachers, taught in studio environments to awaken the artist in each participant while providing a deep investigation of the latest artistic techniques.

Maryland Arts Education Leadership Studio for Fine Arts Supervisors
During this two-day workshop participants will explore and develop personal creative habits followed by arts-discipline specific instruction in an unfamiliar arts discipline of their choice. Afternoon sessions focus on strengthening the statewide network and creating plans to elevate arts programs in the upcoming school year and beyond.

MC3: One Day Sessions
District-wide discovery sessions were offered in St. Mary’s County, Baltimore County, Frederick County, Baltimore City, Kent County, and Talbot County exploring formative assessment, cultural competence, early childhood strategies, arts integration, arts leadership; choral pedagogy, and community-based arts projects.
